The body always tries to protect you
Even the most destructive patterns began as survival strategies.
Rigidity protected something fragile. Tension held up something that was falling apart. Hypervigilance kept a person safe in an unsafe environment. Disconnection avoided a pain that was too large to bear.
All of it was intelligent at the time.
The problem is that the body does not always update its strategies.
And what protected you at ten may be limiting you at forty.
Not because the body is stupid.
Because it never received the signal that it could stop protecting.
